Remove your present email address in Mail then re-enter it using the option that best suits your email address and yours would be Google. If it is a Hotmail or Outlook address use the Outlook.com option.
I installed the newest software update, and the email became accessible. Don’t know if the issue had anything to do with the update, but I’m not questioning the result!
