Contacts from both my Gmail not sync with Messages on my iPhone and Mac

I have a personal gmail account. I have a work email that is a google based email. Contacts are all turned on on the iphone and use SSL is on. When I add contact info on my iphone, they do not sync to messages on my computers. It's driving me nuts because I end up having to add the contact name to the phone number in the messages app, duplicating contacts, but only part of their info. How is this fixed?
