Sequoia is moving my windows off the screen

I'm on my Mail app and I want to look at an Excel spreadsheet to complete some details from an email. When I click on the spreadsheet the Mail app window disappears and I have to click on Mail in the dock. When the window comes up the spreadsheet then disappears, and i have to go to finder to retrieve the spreadsheet, and when it comes up the Mail window disappears again! Can anybody help? Thanks

These are the new default settings in macOS Sequoia that some users may wish to turn off to revert back to previous macOS behavior. These settings have resulted in a lot of questions on these forums.

  • Settings > Desktop & Dock > Click wallpaper to reveal desktop change to Only in Stage Manager
  • Settings > Desktop & Dock > Drag Windows to screen edges to tile OFF
  • Settings > Desktop & Dock > Drag Windows to menu bar to fill screen OFF

If you wish to tile windows you can leave the option to hold the Option key while dragging to obtain the default snapping behavior.

I have:

  1. Turned OFF Stage Manager
  2. Changed "Click wallpaper to reveal desktop" to "Only in Stage Manager"
  3. Turned OFF "Show items" for both "On Desktop" and "In Stage Manager"
  4. Turned OFF "Drag Windows to screen edges to tile"
  5. Turned OFF "Drag Windows to menu bar to fill screen"

And still - when I open a new window in an open application, the other windows for that application are moving off the side of the screen.

This is driving me crazy as I'm often opening new windows and closing them. I just want Sequoia to leave my windows alone. Is there anything else I can try, or any other workarounds?
