I've been trying to update my Apple Watch for days with no luck. After I updated to ios18 on my iPhone I realized my Apple Watch kept asking for an update. Each time I'd try to update the watch it would say fail.
Now it says I need to update the Apple Watch software to WatchOS11.0.1 and I'm unable to do that, it keeps pausing and says when I have internet it will continue. But it never does.

The Apple Watch Series 3 can not be updated to watchOS 11, you will need at least an Apple Watch Series 4 to upgrade to watchOS 10 and a Series 6 to install watchOS 11.

Are you trying to update the watch using the Watch app on your paired iPhone?
Try applying the update from the watch; Settings>General>Software Update.
BTW, the update does not download to the iPhone. It is downloaded directly to the watch. That is why the watch must have a wi-fi connection to update.
