HomePod & airplay 2 projector ?

using a HomePod and airplay 2 projector - via an iPhone - I can only get sound from the HomePod no moving picture being projected ? I have various other apple devices I could use if that may assist ? Also an Apple TV connected elsewhere. I don’t want cables. Any advice please ?

How to connect HomePod mini to the TV without Apple TV? Before I start, I do not have an HomePod mini or a newer version of the Apple TV. So I am wondering, am I able to use a HomePod mini (one or two of them) as a tv speaker without needing a newer Apple TV?
