How to restore in app-purchases within a family
My daughter originally made all Toca World in app purchases under my apple id on my iPad. She later got her own iPad with her own apple ID and we set up family sharing. When in Toca World, if you scroll to bottom of store, there is a button to restore purchases. My daughter gets an error when trying to do this. I downloaded the app on my phone and performed the same scenerio as above and it worked. The issue is that you cannot directly restore in-app purchases across a family even with family sharing enabled. However there is a workaround.
I restored her bought items, by signing her out of app-store on her iPad and signing in as myself. Then we opened Toca World and restored bought items, and now everything was restored. I then signed out of app-store on her iPad and she signed in again. All her bought items where still visible in Toca World.
Side note for users with old devices: To get this working I had to disable end to end encryption (advanced data protection) on iCloud for my account, because otherwise I could not login to her iPadOS 15 device - it is too old for advanced data protection. After signing out of her device, I could reenable end to end encryption on my account.
