My MacBook is not recognizing my VPN. It prompts me for a Password - I tried the activation key for the VPN and I tried the password I use to log on to the MacBook. How do I fix this situation?

If this is a VPN used to create a secure point-to-point secure tunnel to your workplace or other organization's network, contact the network administrator for instructions to setup and connect to the network. If this is a public VPN, why are you using it?
My 2¢ worth on the subject: unless you're using a true VPN tunnel, such as between you and your employer's, school's or bank's servers, they provide false security from a privacy standpoint. Read these articles: Pubic VPN's are anything but public and Security Risks: The Dangers of Using Free VPNs (eccu.edu).

Commercial VPNs
They may not be what one believes they are doing for the computer and what they actually are doing behind the scenes
So called Public VPNs do not provide any “security” at all.
As for ‘location spoofing’, if you are using it to access services that are not available in your region, that’s not legal.
