apple pages keep jumping back to return insertion

hello - over the last few years, whenever i start to scroll up or down a page in apple pages, it keeps flicking back to the point of may last return insertion, which is often in the previous page. i have re-installed the application several times, but the problem is still there. does anyone else have this issue? any thoughts on a solution? many thanks - john
