How do I recover iMovie projects when system updates stop being supported?

My Macbook Pro is quite a few years old and I went in today to find an old iMovie project I'd completed a while back only to find that iMovie had been offloaded. Trying to open it from the App Store, I instad recieved a notification telling me that I need to update to the latest version--the version of iMovie installed on the Mac is not compatible with Monterey. However, when I go to the App Store to update the app itself, it tells me it requires macOS 13.5 or higher--but my current status is macOS 12.7.6 and system preferences is telling me that I'm totally up to date.

I guess my question is--how do I get to all of my completed projects in iMovie if I cannot update to a software that supports the app to open the library?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Try this procedure to obtain the highest version of iMovie that your operating system can run:

To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. (You can skip that step if you had iMovie 10 on your computer before, but deleted it.) Sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. (NOTE: For El Capitan and older, click on the Purchases tab at the top of the app store screen and then sign in. Click on Purchases again to reveal your purchases.)  You will see your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash (if you moved it there) and return it to the Applications folder.
