Copy photos to portable SSD drive

Hi Community,

Attempting to create external portable USB3 - SSD drive with photos only, so I can use it when the internet is down and have no access to iCloud and would also like to use the SSD to show photos on other devices like a laptop.

Have created a folder with subfolders on iMac (updated to latest OS 15.0.1) and exported all photos to it (more than 0.5TB of photos) - no issues all photos normal.

SSD drive is 2TB and is formatted - ExFat

When copy and paste or drag and drop photos to SSD most of the photos are corrupted, some are invisible and some don't exist at all.

Have attempted copying small batches, by individual folders etc. did not work.

Have reformatted the SSD and still the same.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Regards Jozef

Update to - Copy photos to portable SSD drive

I intend to use the SSD drive with a surface pro - windows based tablet

I am gobsmacked to discover that after leaving the iMac on all day and overnight it managed to copy and corrupt 12% of useless photo files to SSD.

Is it time to go back to Windows based Computer?

Totally disillusioned with iMac !
