iPhone 16 Pro models very laggy compared to older phones

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max on iOS 18 (build 22A3354) and I'm noticing more frequent stuttering and dropped frames when navigating and scrolling through the OS and animations compared to my old 15 Pro Max. Especially on the Home Screen.

I'm not the only one noticing this issue, hopefully Apple fixes these issues in future versions of iOS. It's wild how a brand new phone with a more powerful SOC stutters more than older iPhones. Unacceptable.

Before and after the update made no difference. I have a 16 Pro 1TB and it’s also very buggy, glitchy, and overall slow. Even things as simple as turning on the phone from standby make the phone lag or take a second to calibrate. I’m a bit disappointed this year, and my 15PM ironically seems to perform better so far on the same update.

I actually noticed this too really ever since I got the phone that the frame rate drop is quite noticeable. Surprisingly my 14 Pro Max seems to perform better overall. I don’t quite understand it, I thought once we got all of the apple intelligence updates the occasional frame rate drop would improve but the phone does seem like it lags at times. It’s very odd as it’s the first iPhone I’ve ever had that does this and it’s the newest model.
