My 2 printers have all of a sudden gone to idle status and I cannot get them off of it. I have hard reset them, and that did not work. I restarted the computer and I looked here and found an article that says to reset the printing and I followed the instructions and it removed the printers, When I add them back the are still stuck in idle and will not come off.

one of each actually, I got on with Apple Support and apparently it's a known issue that they are working on from the SEQUOIA update. It seems to only affect trying to use the print center to scan. The work around it to use the manufacturer of the printer's software to scan.
What Printers do you have..?
Printer(s) should sit idle until you send the printer a job.
FWIW I do not use the the Epson print or scan software.
I use the macOS to print and Image Capture to scan.
You don’t state if your using Ethernet, USB, wireless of AirPrint. Try using another method your not trying to print and see if it’s the usb, or Ethernet port or something else.
