family plan fido Canada

I have an Apple Watch and my cell provider is Fido in Canada. My elderly mother wants an Apple Watch for the fall detection. She doesn’t have an iPhone. It sounds like family sharing would allow her to use her watch to make an emergency call by using my cell number. I consulted Fido and got conflicting answers about this that are unclear. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks

No, not at all.

You can set up an Apple Watch using Family Setup, but the watch would have its own number and service to place emergency calls.

If you were to have it use your own number, it would require it be directly paired to your own iPhone, and share all data, messages, calls etc.. with it. Not something that is generally recommended.
