"enable audio units" grayed-out in Garageband

This question has been posted before, but no answers:

using Garageband 10.4.11, "enable audio units" is grayed out with a check in the box.

Why is it grayed-out? If there's a check in the grayed-out box, is it active?

Is there a fix for this?

Garageband audio settings keep switching Every few minutes, my Garageband audio settings automatically switch to either "Zoom" or "Microsoft Teams" or some other setting. I switch it back manually to my computer speakers (or "system settings") , which works for anywhere between 2 and 20 minutes, and then it just goes back to one of the other settings. Any ideas how to stop that from happening?

GarageBand updating information about Audio Unit plugins for the second day GarageBand doesn't start for the second day. Writes that it's updating information about Audio Unit plugins. Should I wait until the information will updating or should I do something?
