What causes "Routined Quit Unexpectedly" on MacBook Pro?

2018 MacBook Pro 15”. After upgrading to Ventura 13.7 today, I kept getting the message “routined quit unexpectedly”. I have reinstalled a fresh copy of the OS, reset NVRAM and it also happens in safe boot mode. Anyone else seeing this problem?

Can you post one of those routined crash reports? Usually app crash reports don't have any useful information, but you never know.

The man page says "routined is a per-user daemon that learns historical location patterns of a user and predicts future visits to locations." Maybe try toggling location services.

Where did you get that "noip2" startup item? Startup items haven't worked for years. EtreCheck still prints them just to see that there is, or has been, some kind of temporal anomaly. It's possible that something that old might have hacked around on some configuration file too. That might explain why it also crashes in Safe Mode.

Have you run Disk Utility's Disk First Aid on all connected drives?

In Disk Utility>View, select Show all Devices, highlight the top left entry.

Run Disk First Aid on all items in the left panel, from top down.

Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?

We need to see what all is running, a report from this will not display any personal info...

Using EtreCheck - Apple Community

EtreCheck is a FREE simple little diagnostic tool to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac. It will not display any personal info. Give it Full Disk Access.

Give etrecheck Full Disk Access before running.

Thanks for Old Toad’s etrecheck instructions…
