iPhone Won't Share JPEGs Across Apps After Time/Date Adjustments – iOS 18

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a strange issue on my iPhone 12 Pro since upgrading to iOS 18, and I’m hoping someone can help or confirm if this is a known bug.

The problem:
Whenever I transfer JPEG images to my iPhone (whether via AirDrop, SD card reader, or import to the Photos app), and adjust the time and date using the Photos app, these JPEG files refuse to be shared across multiple apps. This includes social media apps, as well as other apps like Freeform, Buffer - everything that shows up on the iPhone’s share menu.

I get this message: "Unable to Share. There was an error while preparing to share. Please try again later."

What I’ve tried:

-I’ve transferred images via multiple methods (AirDrop, SD card reader, and importing into the Photos app), but the issue remains.

-I’ve tested this on my iPad (which is also on iOS 18), and the same process works just fine, with no issues sharing JPEGs after time/date adjustments.

-Interestingly, if I convert the images to PNG, and adjust the time and date, there are no problems, and the files share perfectly across all apps.

Has anyone else encountered this problem with JPEGs after adjusting the time and date via the Photo app? I’d appreciate any insights or help!

Thanks in advance!
