Apple CarPlay Not Working in iOS 18.0

I just got a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek and I’ve noticed a few odd things with CarPlay.

1. While driving, the Album list is disabled. It can be scrolled but albums cannot be selected.

2. Also while driving, the Artists list is enabled, but when selecting an album, it plays in alphabetical order instead of track order.

When stopped, neither of these issues occur. Also, selecting from the Recently Added list plays albums in the correct order while driving.

Driving Focus is off.

CarPlay is wireless.

Any ideas? Anyone else experience this? Feel like an iOS bug.

THIS solved my issue of the Carplay not being receptive to commands and inconsistently playing only through my 2 front speakers. I have my sub and bass back after an agonizing 2 weeks after the IOS 18.01 update

Here's all i did .. Enable your "content and Privacy restrictions" (Mine was off) under your iphone settings. I did this and tried to replicate all the issues for an hour and they never resurfaced. FIngers crossed this works!! Let me know

I haven’t jumped back on from my original post I started however still using a wireless 2024 adapter ~ When I turned vocal Shortcuts off, everything seemed to work normal. And also deleting the phone repairing it to the head, etc. I did the whole shebang at the beginning..

I’m gonna try USB to C cable direct from the head unit.

The adapter is great. The only thing that stinks is there’s a lag. Maybe I’m just impatient who knows.. Hope this helps

@Apple you have a problem with iOS 18 and 18.01. These updates have caused different kinds of issues to AppleCarplay users depending on what IPhone and car we have. In my case, with IPhone 15 and a Mazda, CarPlay only works wired but not through bluetooth. I’ve tried all tips and suggestions and nothing has worked to fix the problem that started with iOS 18.01 update. @Apple you need to fix the problem.

I have tried this reset and it work now this is the solution after you update your iOS from 17 to 18 and above.

Exactly the same here, frustrating, then to make it more confusing it will then play thru the car stereo speakers , for a small time then go back to the telephone speaker. Hope they fix it soon.

BTW, 2020 Honda Civic EXL

After I updated to iOS 18 my car play goes into a reboot ever time . If I play music is freeze and restarts .

Updated to ISO 18 on a iPhone 13 Pro. Phone is no longer responsive on touchscreen of Honda CRV 2018 when playing audiobooks over Libby. Hopefully a fix will be coming soon.

Same is happening to mine. New iPhone 16 pro and 2023 Mini Cooper … now don’t like each other. I rely on access to my calls and sat nav. Not impressed! Is there going to be a fix Apple?
