After updating my iPad Air m2 to iPadOS 18 my battery is draining very fast it takes only 1 hr to come 1% from 80%, near camera side my iPad is excessively heating without any use. Charging is taking more than the expected time and stopped charging at 80% due to iPad’s temp.

After an iOS update, it's common to experience an increased battery drain and increased heat as certain tasks related to the update continue in the background including indexing, you should only experience this increased battery drain for a few days before it goes back to normal.

I updated 10 days ago and my ipad9 was still draining 40% during the night (cover closed). I say was because I found the solution: reverted back to ipados 17.7
now all good. Do the same and wait for 18.3
Have you updated in the last few days? Then it could be that your iPad is still indexing the update, wait a few days so that you can see if the issuess persist
