Shared Homepod volume control with family members

Same problem for me using HomePod mini. I would love to be able to control the volume when a family member plays something but still can’t.

Preventing HomePod being discoverable to family devices Hi, I bought a HomePod mini a while ago and ever since my family has been really annoyed by my HomePod being discoverable on their devices, by discoverable, I mean they have the option to play audio via airplay (though when trying to play audio it fails) or when in calls, pressing on the speaker button opens a drop-down menu including my HomePod. things I've tried: created my own home in the home app and added my HomePod to it, making sure I’m the only user with that home. change the home settings to “Only People Sharing This Home” factory resetting the HomePod change my whole family’s iPhone settings to: Tap on Settings > General > AirPlay & Handoff and toggled it all off and removed automatically transferring airplay to TVs Would love for some help because this is an actual deal breaker for me, seems a bit weird that a expensive smart home speaker is missing basic functionality like this. thanks for the help! HomePod mini Hi, I have currently an Apple Music Account, an IPhone 12 and the latest IPad Pro. I would like to buy a HomePod Mini for my 8 years old son and I have a few questions before. I understood how to set up the HomePod Mini via the Home App but once installed what does the HomePod require to work without any phone or iPad nearby? Is it actually possible? I mean, my son has no phone yet nor an IPad, and I would not like to keep my phone or iPad nearby just to make the HomePod work. Is it sufficient to have a internet connection to make it work? And it would only be to play music from Apple Music in his room. I guess I would need to setup a family account on Apple Music, right? I would really be happy if someone could answer all those questions because I am unable to find anything helpful on the net. Thanks in advance, Alain

Add HomePod to Home app I have three HomePods purchased in 2020 & 2021 I am trying to set up two as stereo speakers and a third on its own in a different room I have managed to connect to the two HomePods as stereo speakers which is good I have got the third HomePod working (e.g. Spotify via my iPhone) but can't seem to add it to the Home app - and therefore cannot access any settings. Confusingly, it also seems to be using the same name as the other two HomePods I have tried the following without success: placed the iPhone near the HomePod to try and connect reset the HomePod settings unplugged the HomePod and started from scratch What do I need to do to be able to add the third HomePod to the Home app Thank you in advance
