Screen Time Requests Starting New iMessage Threads

Historically, when my son requested more screen time, those requests went into the same chat/thread in iMessage where he, my wife and I communicate. We are all part of the same Apple family.

Now, starting with iOS 18, every time he requests more screen time, it starts a new chat among the 3 of us. Its quite annoying as there are now multiple threads, and more keep popping up.

Interestingly, this does not seem to happen with my daughter.

Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone else found a solution?
