iPhone keyboard lagging after iOS 18 Update

Hello guys, I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and I've been suffering for the famous keyboard lag since I've updated to iOS 17 one year ago. In my case the problem starts to occur when I enable 2 languages on my keyboard (for me, Italian and English). I hoped that with the iOS 18 update and the introduction of the bilingual keyboard this bug would finally be fixed but sadly, that was not the case. I've tried every possible troubleshooting known for this issue, yesterday I've even reset my iPhone, but again, without success. Is someone experiencing the same issue even in iOS 18? And have you managed to fix this? Thank you.

FYI for me it’s auto correct. When it’s disabled in settings, along with predictive, the lag is gone. So clearly Apple screwed up auto correct and predictive as usual and now typing is a nightmare on these phones. Time to switch back to Android.

Please explain this clean install process I would like to give it a go. Are you talking about an erase all files and settings, connecting to a pc, and downloading the firmware? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m mostly on my iPad Pro (iPadOS 18.2) and it’s lagging bad. Sometimes the emoji keyboard comes up blank. Same problem in my iPhone 13 Pro. I never had this issue until 18.2. On either device.

I never thought about doing this. I’ll give it a try. I like the idea behind autocorrect but a lot times I feel like I’m correcting the autocorrect 😅

I also have noticed the lagging keyboard. But this issue is more common on the iPhones prior to iPhone 15.

I turned off every non-critical option under Settings -> App -> Texting and performance improved markedly (e.g. share feedback with Apple, which is ironic). Did a hard reboot also fyi.

I was wondering about that. My iPhone 13 Pro has no problems nor my iPad Mini (which can’t run Ai) All my keyboard problems seem to be with my IPad Pro. Going to give this a shot.
