Why Fidelity’s Active Trader Pro (ATP) Still Struggles on Macs (Even with M3)

Mac users, especially those with the new M3 chips, are still dealing with issues running Fidelity’s Active Trader Pro (ATP). Here’s a breakdown of what’s going on:

1. Running on Outdated Emulation: ATP runs through Wine and Rosetta 2, causing laggy performance, high CPU usage, and frequent crashes, even on the latest M1, M2, and M3 Macs.

2. Outdated Framework: ATP is still using .NET Framework 4.6.2, which is set to reach its end of support in 2027. Fidelity should be updating to at least .NET 5, which would bring better performance, stability, and compatibility with macOS. However, .NET 7 or .NET 8 would be ideal for modern features, long-term support, and improved performance across Apple’s hardware.

3. No Native Mac Support: Fidelity still hasn’t developed a native macOS version of ATP, leaving Mac users stuck with poor performance on the current system.
