Apple Music issues after iOS 18 Update

Has anyone experienced issues with Apple Music in iOS 18? For example, audio quality lowered despite Dolby Atmos and EQ off? Or trying to scroll through your playlist and the app crashes?

Me. So thankful to find someone else with this issue. My Apple Music has been almost unusable since the upgrade to iOS 18. Crashes when scrolling a playlist, crashes when trying to remove songs from a playlist. Won’t let me edit larger playlist. Also freezes a lot, is super slow, and the audio quality has decreased. I have been on basically a 4 day phone call with a Apple Senior Adviser about this and they can’t figure it out, plus they say nobody else besides me has reported to them issues with Apple Music on iOS 18. Which is hard for me to believe. The tech is calling me back tomorrow with what his bosses said about the screen recordings i sent them showing my issues. I’ve done every troubleshooting step they can think of except reinstalling iOS 18. I hope they can figure it out cause it’s annoying me to no end not being able to use my music.

This is even more disturbing: “the iPhone 16 Pro Max with 512 GB of space is turning into a buggy phone, with software to match.” I’m having my Apple Music problems with my iPhone12 and was actually thinking maybe I should bite the bullet and get a 16, but I just scratched that idea. I have always trusted Apple but this thread is discouraging.

Your situation is very similar to mine. I don’t use my HomePod enough to think about its functionality. But the cloud isn’t matching songs when songs that I upload don’t need to be matched when they’re not available on Apple Music to begin with. If you already knew the album you’re playing didn’t have bonus tracks and you bought a CD and wanted to upload the bonus tracks, the status should just say “uploaded”. The cloud trying to match something that can’t be matched is crazy.

While browsing, tapping into any artist shows nothing, no options while using the music app on CarPlay. For context, I have a lot of music (7,000 songs and 430 artists), and my own local files transferred from iTunes (Purchased MP3s and M4As from different sources).

Also, the volume normalization (I believe it is now included in what is called "Sound Check" in the iOS 18 Music settings) stopped working. There is no normalization going on, which makes me have to manually change the volume when playing on shuffle.

Hope you can fix this for the upcoming update!

After updating to OS18, many streamed music tracks from AM catalog (not Cloud) are not finishing correctly. Stop playing music approx. 50–60 sec before the end but timer continues running down to 0:00

e.g. Billy Idol – Eyes Wothput A Face

Stops playing music 0:54 before the end

Someone who is experiencing the same issue?

Tested on latest tvOS, iOS (not beta)

Also having issues with this. Updated to iOS 18.0.1 over the weekend and now Music app on my phone won't recognize anything I've previously loaded onto it from my personal library (songs, playlists, albums etc). But when I check the phone through Finder or the Music app on my Mac, the songs show up in their directory. Very frustrating and making me reconsider upgrading. Anyone have any new info on resolving this issue?

Thanks!

I called a few times. IOS rendered 99% of the songs can’t be played. The Apple support tech from a certain Asian country claimed to be expert asked me switch off my anti virus and asked me uninstalled apps in my PC because it’s a PC. He claimed that if mine is a MacBook should be fine. After going through the mirroring session and deleted some apps, he sounded hesitant and threw the responsibility to mine and insist I must download songs from Apple instead and fault was my PC. The next support tech told me the previous guy was not an expert which Apple claimed to be and he also can’t do anything except ask me call within office hours for support. Now every night I just try to sync and sync by leaving PC and the phone connected. Apple should have a well planned back up procedures instead of getting us to be lab mice in their trial and error.

It’d be easier for them to just admit they don’t know what to do right now and will be working vigorously to work on resolving than issue. You shouldn’t have to spend 1000+ on a MacBook to have functioning service with Apple Music. This thread also proves their own products are not working

properly either no matter what type of computer you have. I would rather they just admit this will take time than act like they know what to do.

Almost a month now with these problems and nothing from Apple! The thought of dumping my iPhone and getting a Samsung or Google is growing stronger each day this lasts. The music app is worthless at this point....what I am paying for?! And Apple's complete lack of acknowledging all of this is very frustrating and disappointing....perhaps Amazon Music Premium is in my future???
