ios18 calculator - continuous mode?

Can anyone help me find what I consider to be a normal calculator mode?

In iOS 17 it added as you went, like an ordinary calculator, now it doesn't there is no continuous adding mode that I can find.

Am I missing something?

The calculator now shows your operations in the order you enter them, and when you tap on the = button, it will perform the operations in the traditional order. Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction.

So if you have 65-10+3x15 for example, it will multiply 3x15 first to get 45, subtract 10 from 65 and add 45 to that for a result of 100.

Is that not what you expect?

You can always press the = sign after every operation to do it in specifically the order you enter them in.

65-10 = 55+3 = 58 x 15 = 870.

The old iOS 17 Calculator would add on the fly, so for example

tap 1 + 2.......tapping + again would display 3 and await the next number, ad infinitum.

Now I have to tap 1 + 2 = + 3 to get the same effect which is not like a normal calculator, and not like it worked on iOS17.

Further research suggests there is now no ordinary calculator mode (I'm already seeing other posts on Reddit on this subject), a shame really as it was very useful not having to carry a separate device.

Hopefully as more people realise the downgrade, Apple might revert to a proper calculator, or at least add a continuous mode back in.
