Preview special characters - cannot search

I can see on this community many complains on Preview search of special characters

I have Ventura 13.6.9 and cannot search Swedish or other language special characters

Very disappointing. Did it work on previous versions ? does it work on Sonoma ?

Is ther a free pdf viewer that allows special character search?
