iCloud Family Sharing - Change of Storage

Hi there,

I want to seperate from a family member’s family sharing iCloud storage as i use most of it. It’s mainly comprised of photos, contacts and files.

I heard you have to leave family sharing before you can buy more storage?

Does it delete your photos?

What is the best way to seperate from the family sharing without loosing things like timestamps, locations of the photos/videos. Because I really don’t want to download it.
