Strange reaction when insearting soundeffects in imovie

When I insert sound effects during a certain clip, it happens that the sound is turned down automatically. No matter what I do the strange reaction persists... What should I do?

Hi,

Some effects are louder than others. The decrease in volume might be perfectly normal. You didn't mention what effect that you were using, or whether the volume decrease happens only with one particular clip or in one particular project.

You might try simply increasing the volume after applying the effect. Try with different clips in different projects, and with different effects.

Another thing to try is deleting/resetting preferences. To delete/reset preferences open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open

in a new empty library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. (To reopen your old library close iMovie and go to your Movie folder or wherever you have your old iMovie library stored. Double click on the library’s icon.  iMovie will open in that library.) Now see if the volume issue is resolved. Possibly you may need to

reboot to set the changes.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to

your project.
