Can you use an Apple Gift Card to purchase software through the Education Store?

Hi! I just recently bought a MacBook Pro for college. I'm currently majoring in computer science but also wanted to explore content creation (i.e. music and video) as a side gig because I'm passionate about it. Anyways, included with the MBP was a $150.00 Apple Store gift card and I wanted to know if I could use if to buy the Pro Apps Bundle for Education. I've tried doing so before but I've hit errors with the gift cards I've used as well as the debit card itself.
