I updated to 17.6.1 now no dictation!

I have no microphone icon in texting or in gmail or anywhwhere. When I go to keyboard to enable dictation, that’s not there either. What the hey?

IPhone SE 2

Thanks!

This the only thing that worked for me. I went into Settings, then Screen Time and disabled (turned off) Content & Privacy Restrictions. The microphone icon is now back in all apps for dictating and I am also able to clear my Safari history again. You may be able to change some specific settings under Content & Privacy Restrictions and leave it turned on but I haven't tried that yet.

Re: "I updated to 17.6.1 now no dictation!"

Apple support's online article: Dictate text on iPhone - Apple Support

says to turn it on of off in Settings > General > Keyboard.

Eg: Turn on Enable Dictation. If a prompt appears, also tap Enable Dictation.

If that's not possible, one or more trouble-shooting suggestions below may help:

(1) Try restarting your iPhone (deletes temporary files, re-establishes connections, may update recent setting changes, and often restores order if something is not working as expected.)

If needed: See how to: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

(2) If necessary: You may want to try setting up and using using Voice Control for Dictation

(Eg: You can switch between dictation, spelling, and command modes for greater control.)

See how to: Use Voice Control to interact with iPhone - Apple Support

(3) You may want to send feedback to Apple: They will likely. not reply, yet your feedback. will reach those who can make changes. If others report a similar issue there may be an update that addresses it

Web-form for feedback: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
