Why are my contacts being synced with another account (seperate icloud IDs)?

For some reason my dad gets all my contacts but i get none of his. i’m 100% sure we have separate emails and IDs, the only thing we share is the family plan, which he is the organizer of. not sure how to resolve this as i’ve seen many people with the same issue but not many clear answers. please let me know how i can fix this. thank you! :)
