iPhone text message drafts are disappearing

If you switch away from Messages and the phone needs more memory for the frontmost program, it will quit the programs that are not actively being used. If this is Messages, anything you haven't sent will be deleted. Messages has no draft function.

If you use Notes, you don't even have to copy and paste. You can hit the share button and share directly back to Messages. The share button is the one that looks like a box with an arrow coming out the top. It's in the bottom center.

My suggestion is use Notes to type them out first and then copy and paste them into messages.
