Shortcut no longer works in iPhone post iOS update

Hello all,

Background:

iPhone 15, IOS 17.5.1, a Shortcut that works fine. The contents of the Shortcut:

1) Open <name of MP3 file at the root of my iCloud drive that is downloaded

to my iPhone>

2) in Files

The Shortcut opens the MP3 file in Files and all I do is tap on the play button and the MP3 file is played in Files.

Problem:

iPhone just updated to IOS 17.6, and the above Shortcut no longer works. When I run the Shortcut, the Shortcut icon appears in the Dynamic Island, but the MP3 file is not opened in Files so I can tap on the

play button.

Evidently this minor update broke my Shortcut. I have tried creating a new shortcut but with no success.

Rather than identifying what was broken in this minor update, I would just like to know what to put in a Shortcut under IOS 17.6, to have it open an MP3 file in the Files app so I can tap on the play button, and

it will play in the Files app. A step better would be a Shortcut to open an MP3 file in the Files app and then proceed to play it without me tapping on the play button.

Thank you for your kind help.

Troubleshooting iOS Glitch:

I. Update to iOS 17.6.1:

iOS 17.6.1 was recently released. So, start with backing up your iPhone, and then installing that.

1. Back Up First:

IMPORTANT: If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the update

Then...

2. Proceed with the Update:

Rather than doing so directly on your iPhone, use a computer instead. That was you can have a more reliable connection to the update server. Seems like an unsuccessful update.

Go Here:  Update your iPhone Using a Computer - User Tip

Also...

II. Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know what exactly is occurring.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this occurrence, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary
