MacBook Pro M3 Max Randomly Ejecting All External SSDs

Has anyone found a fix to this yet? I am on my 2nd MacBook Pro M3 Max now as I thought I just had a faulty Macbook, but my second new one is exactly the same (Running on Sonoma 14.5.)

I've tried Sandisk Pro, Samsung T7, Lacie rugged - happens with them all, even the one that Apple sells themselves!

All my Sandisk Extreme SSD's still work fine with no ejects on my old 2017 MacBook Pro and 2016 iMac desktop with No ejects.

I'm literally going insane, being a professional Photographer/ Videographer working from SSD's is my only options for the amount of data that I go through and this problem is making it physically impossible to do my work, and also risks currupting data.

I saw other posts on this but the thread was closed.

Has anyone found a fix for this yet?

I'm seriously considering going to a windows based device after 17yrs working with Macs. Not ok after spending close to £4000 on a top spec Macbook Pro M3 Max.

Thanks in advance

Chris

This is the very worst. How could this be happening!? I just upgraded from an intel chipset and it handled the same hardware without issue. This is screwing up my sessions.

Hi Kaz k

thanks for your suggestion, but that doesn’t explain why there is no issue using these drives on my old 2017 MacBook Pro usb c ports?

Surely this shouldn’t be an issue on - brand new MacBook Pro m3 max?

that would be like downgrading if I can’t just use my external drives without this hassle?

have you experienced this yourself?

I’ve tried various drives from Sandisk, Lacie and Samsung, all have the same issues :(

not really acceptable from such an expensive machine.

I am a composer who relies heavily on my Apple computer for my professional work. Having been a loyal Apple user since 1984, I am truly shocked by the issues I am currently facing with my new M3 Pro 18Gb. Specifically, Safari appears to cause frequent disconnections of my hard drives, an issue I’ve never encountered before. My workflow is severely disrupted as a result, with five separate hard disks now disconnecting multiple times a day. This is an unacceptable inconvenience. Starting my computer with these drives connected has become impossible. The frustration and disappointment this has caused cannot be overstated. I can’t believe immediate attention to resolve these problems hasn’t been taken.
