GarageBand - what does the +/- 100 scale mean in an audio track recording
When I record a mono microphone input, GarageBand creates a "trace", but its not centred around 0.
What does the +/- 100 scale mean?

You would have to ask the developers that. I suspect it is some sort of VU meter.
Just strive to keep a good signal there, the key is the vu meter to the left of the track. That should be fairly close to zero.
