Fast highlight text in Apple Books

I have not been able to find an option or a way to fast highlight in Apple Books on iPhone or Mac. By fast highlight, I mean text being highlighted simply by selecting it. This is an option in Kindle. I use to be able to hold down the command key and highlight text in Books on Mac and the text would be highlighted. Now I have to select text, right click, and select a highlight color. This gets very distracting when reading and frequently highlighting.

Thank you :) There are things I really like about the Apple Books program over kindle and this highlighting issue is really my only gripe but it’s pretty important to me. I’ll use the link abdomen provide product feedback! Just wondered if there was already a way to fast-highlight that I wasn’t aware of.

You can let Apple know what you'd like to see here:

Or, use Kindle if it suits you better.
