unable to use iMovie with Big Sur

I don't see it on Purchases nor in hidden purchases and this seems to be the only way to download an older version. I'm afraid I'm not the only one stuck exactly like this. I'm just asking people that do know, is it really the case that if I want to get my work back I'll need to buy a computer that supports Ventura. Because that is quite telling indifference from Apple
