Quicktime Started Recording my video and then Stopped.

I was recording a lesson I needed to teach for a class. Quicktime started the recording, and then 10 seconds in, after I was focusing on the lesson and not the player, it apparently stoped recording video, but continued recording sound. Wasting some 30 minutes of my life. More than enough storage. Looking at the file, it is only some 80MB, so it just never recorded the video? Can I ever trust it to actually work?
