MacBook Air M1 (2021) Won’t Charge

Hello!

I have a MacBook Air I bought at the end of 2021. I honestly used it 10 times for a small project. I hadn’t turned it on in probably 6 months, and when I charged it up yesterday to access garage band, I went back to it 5 hours later and it was dead. It powers on when it’s plugged in, but with a /!\ battery warning and it only goes up to 1%.

I tried resetting the SMC, but that didn’t seem to work.

Any other ideas or suggestions? I’ve had 10-year-old laptops with fewer issues. Also, the closest Apple Store to me is in the worst mall. Really hoping it’s a setting I can update.

I also installed and am running the latest software as of last night.

thank you!

if the battery had drained below 3v per cell the bms will disconnect the battery from the board and if the battery drains even further because of internal resistance and the bms the batty might have completely died some people mey charge the cells one by one without the bms to fix this problem the damage at sitting unplugged for that long usually damages the battery chemically and it can't be reviewed your best option is to get the battery replaced ether do it yourself or bringing it to a repair shop apple or really any one so long as the Mac is locked and they use a genuine or a quality aftermarket battery you are gone fine or if you are not gone use it for a very long time just get the battery removed apple might not remove the battery I haven't seen many apple batteries expend when left at 0% but lithium pouch cells do expend and damage the devices that they are in in such conditions and if you want ti get it repaired you should check it and charge it every month or so
