I like the feature of automatically turning on the lights at sunset, however the turn off is by number of hours. I would like to set a time to turn off the lights. Sunset changes during the year, but I'd still like my lights to turn off at 11:30 pm no matter when they came on. Is this possible? Does it require a software update?

Alternatively have two automations. One to turn on the lights at dusk, the other to turn them off at your desired time.
This is how I have set up automations for lights in my house.
The turn off feature (within a limited number of hours) you mention can be used as part of an automation, but it does not have to be active.
Set your first home automation to never turn off the lights, then create a new home automation triggered at 11:30 pm that turns off the lights.
