How to sync iPod Classic Fall 2009 with latest Mac Mini 2023/24?

My old iPod Classic Fall 2009 does not sync with my Mac Mini 2023. I can transfer the music and photo files; and can see those in Finder >> iPod. However, I'm unable to see these files in the iPod when I disconnect the device. I read that Music (fka iTunes) does not support old iPod classic. And, 3rd party Apps like iMazing and WALTR cost you as these are paid apps. Please could you help?
