using iTunes purchased music in iMovie

I purchased music to iTunes long before using Apple Music, now I can't find any music that I can use in imovie. My iTunes songs show up in the Apple Music app and are downloaded but apparently are not "mine" now that they are listed in Apple Music? Can that be right? Can't think of any other reason why no music shows up to use in iMovie.

Open your iTunes library from the iTunes app. Drag a couple of unprotected songs out to your desktop and from there drag them into iMovie. See if they work. They should, as long as they don't carry DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection. Songs purchased before year 2009 can carry DRM protection, but from 2009 onward Apple eliminated DRM.

As I understand it, songs downloaded from Apple Music won't work in iMovie, even if they were originally purchased from iTunes and subsequently downloaded into Apple Music.
