I get an error when trying to copy a QuickTime file from one thumb drive to another

I am trying to copy film from one thrive and drag it over to another some drive, but I get a pop-up window that says the film cannot be open. This file is not compatible with QuickTime player however, I am able to open it on the other thumb drive. I am totally confused. I have tried deleting and reinstalling on the thumb drive, and sometimes it has worked and sometimes it doesn’t but I am copying film to multiple thumb drives for my family. Please help thank you in advance.
