iPod not showing in Finder or Music

going insane .... have Apple CD player 2023 and old school iPod (5th gen??) neither will show on IMac desktop, nor in finder, or Music. Connections/leads tested. All correct CD DVD tabs ticked.

Running Sonomar 14.5

Any bright ideas please?
