5G iPod Nano Battery

I recently bought a used 5th generation iPod Nano at a local rummage sale. Other than a botched engraving on the back which doesn't look like it was done by Apple, the iPod Nano is in remarkable condition for its age. In fact, it doesn't have any wear, nicks or scratches on it at all. No music or anything left over from the previous owner, as if it was never used at all since it left the factory. The problem is that the battery appears to be completely dead. I mean, so dead that as soon as I remove it from external power, it immediately powers off, and upon turning it back on, I'm always greeted with the language selection screen, implying that the settings are not being held in memory due to a lack of power. Charging the iPod for several hours does not do anything, and replacing the battery looks like it will be a royal pain in the butt as so many fragile things have to be pried off and removed, which I will likely damage as a result. And to top it off, the battery terminals are soldered onto the main board, and soldering is not my strongest skill. I'm definitely not going to attempt soldering with a Lithium Ion battery. Any suggestions on revising the dead battery (safely) or I'm I pretty much stuck with it in its current condition? I hate to send it off to the eWaste given its pristine condition, as many heavily used iPods are selling for outrageous prices nowadays. If anything, I can just use the iPod on my speaker dock, which will constantly provide external power, or use a USB power bank for portability.
