I was just wondering if anyone has heard when the back to school sale was going to start. I had heard that it was supposed to be this week and it’s now Thursday and nothing. Just looking for some insight so I can buy the new iPad Air. Thank you.

Personally I would wait based on last year's date making soon seem likely, but that is a decision only you can make for yourself.
This is primarily a user-to-user support forum; other Apple users like you. We don't have access to unannounced information and I haven't seen any announcement yet. Last year it started on June 5, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it soon, but that is no guarantee.
Expecting the apple back to school 2024 offers to start by this month end mostly. as per previous years schedule and due to WWDC apple might have delayed the announcement. But it's worth waiting if not urgent.
