A few days ago my ipod classic stopped working and it now shows nothing saved and zero KB capacity. I think I may need to send it for repair. Any thoughts?

The internal hard drive may have been corrupted or failed in some weird way that allows the iPod to boot, but not show any contents.
You would probably need to have someone open it and replace the hard drive. Don't think Apple is servicing iPod Classics anymore though.
Apple released the last iPod Classic in 2009, and discontinued the iPod Classic in 2014. I would not expect any company to keep repairing devices 10 years after discontinuation
You can find many on ebay for around $50 bucks. hardly what I would call expensive at this point in time.

Shame that something that was (and still is to buy) so expensive, may not be able to be repaired. I will let you know if I have any luck getting it repaired.
