face id not working for iphone 13

after the recent ios update, all of a sudden its not recognizing my face. tried to reset it and now it keeps on saying face id not available.

Only 10% of the time it works. I tried resetting and setting it up again and also added an alternate appearance with my face. Nothing helps. I hope that this is a software issue as sometimes it unlocks my iPhone and setting face id would not have worked if it is a hardware issue.
