I am unable to update iPhone due to no storage space

My device is using 40gb of space and I am unable to update any software updates because it says it needs 12 GB-ENG to update. I have reduced everything but still too much taken up on device

Hello,

You'll need to free up some storage. See this:

How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Note: deleted photos are not necessarily deleted from the phone.  You may have to go to Photos > Albums > Recently Deleted and delete them from there to truly free up storage.

Then restart your phone.

You may uninstall some of the apps, so that you can get space. Then reinstall them.

please be cautious to take backup of your current contents before uninstalling.


Apps like Mail and email client application would occupy so much of space. Just delete them and reconfigure, you will get plenty of space.


you also can transfer all your photo files to portable devices (USB stick) and then delete them from phone memory.
