Podcast app repeating a few seconds after interruption

Since the latest update this issue has started. If I listen to a podcast and it gets interrupted by an advert in another app, when it restarts (on muting the ad) it skips back a few seconds, so I hear the same thing again. It didn’t do this when I got the phone, it’s only since it last updated. How do I get it back to how it was before?
