bug in 14.0 keynote: text backgrounds opaque, white, and uneditable

The new version of Keynote (version 14.0 (7039.0.94) on my macbook air OS 14.4.1 (23E224)) has

  1. introduced opaque white backgrounds surrounding just the text in text boxes. Since I often have text over pictures, this is very ugly.
  2. disabled the outputs of the "more text options" box.
    1. the background is still set correctly to none.
    2. if I try to change that to opaque in some color and back again, nothing happens
    3. even if I tick something crazy like "outline", nothing happens.

If anyone has a work around, I'd love to hear it, but I hope this will get fixed in 14.0.1 really soon.
